Description
Our cross bars or 'support bars' for our premium range of stretcher bars are made from the same quality pine and are strong and straight to offer maximum support for your larger stretched canvas frames.
The Gallery bar cross bar system is a simple one that involves securing the cross bar to the back of the stretcher bar by small screws or tacks (not provided) utilising the complimenting recesses on both the cross bar and stretcher bar. These cross bars come in two types; ‘A+B type’ and ‘C type’.
C Type bars are ‘one directional’ support bars i.e. they are not notched to cross in the middle with another cross bar. An example of using a C type cross bar is using a 20” cross bar to support the 40” length of a 20” x 40” stretched canvas frame.
A+B Type bars are notched in the middle, allowing them to cross in the middle to support a frame in both dimensions, for example using both a 40” and a 50” cross bar to support a 40” x 50” stretched canvas frame.
As a guide our customers generally consider it sensible to support the Gallery bar from around 40”.
