IS THIS THE RIGHT CROSS BAR FOR YOU?
PLEASE NOTE; our mill recently updated the cross bar profile from 16mm x 44mm to 14mm x 40mm. Both are compatible with the Exhibit and Premier Stretcher Bars. If choosing cross bars to 'cross' please pick matching cross bars. For example, if you are using 60" x 40" cross bars they will need to cross in the middle and both sizes must be either 'NEW' or 'ORIGINAL'.

Description
Our cross bars or ‘support bars’ for our premium range of stretcher bars are made from the same quality pine and are strong and straight to offer maximum support for your larger stretched canvas frames.
The Exhibit and Premier Stretcher bars use the same cross bar as each other. Unlike Gallery bars, the Exhibit and Premier bars are notched to accept a cross bar so that it becomes integral to the frame without tacking. These cross bars are also supplied with wedges which allow the cross bars freedom to move when tensioning.
As a guide, our customers generally consider it sensible to support the Exhibit bar from around 36" - 40” and the Premier perhaps from around 30” - 34". Both the Exhibit and Premier bars are notched to accept brace bars from 30" and above - it's not usually considered necessary to use cross bars below this length.
Cross bars for Exhibit and Premier bars are therefore notched in the middle from 30" which allows bi-directional cross bars to be installed if desired on frames of 30" and above.
WOODEN WEDGES - Enjoy free wooden wedges with every box of our cross bars (2 wedges per bar). Plastic wedges are cheaper but they look it too so we’re all wood! With wooden wedges your customers know you haven’t scrimped and unlike plastic wedges they flux with the frame during humidity and temperature changes so it’s less common for wooden wedges to fall out, which can lead to a saggy canvas.
